Meet our Medical Advisory Board

Our Medical Advisory Board is made up of experienced physicians from Michigan Center for Regenerative Medicine (MCFRM) who provide clinical guidance and oversight for Lumora Health. While they do not see patients directly through Lumora, they help shape our evidence-based protocols, review clinical best practices, and ensure we maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient care.

Dr. Nabity

Dr. Thomas Nabity is board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska and completed his residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Nabity specializes in the non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal disorders, spinal conditions, and joint pain, with an emphasis on healthy aging, physical performance, metabolic health, and the maintenance of mobility and function. He has a strong passion for functional and regenerative medicine and integrates them to address factors affecting pain, healing, and overall wellness, including fatigue, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and decreased performance. Among the early physicians in Michigan to offer regenerative therapies, Dr. Nabity provides platelet-rich plasma (PRP), stem cell-based treatments, and hormone optimization as part of individualized care plans. He combines evidence-based pain management with regenerative approaches and a commitment to functional medicine principles to help patients reduce pain, restore mobility, improve energy, and support long-term health and resilience.

Dr. Santa Ana

Dr. John Santa Ana is board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine and specializes in interventional sports, joint, and spine treatments. He earned his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. A proud Veteran and former physician in the United States Army, Dr. Santa Ana treated complex musculoskeletal injuries in our Nation’s service members, helping them recover function and return to duty. He brings this same dedication and expertise to patients in our community. Dr. Santa Ana is passionate about treating the whole person rather than simply addressing symptoms. With interests in functional and regenerative medicine, hormone optimization, and healthy aging, he develops personalized treatment plans that focus on identifying underlying contributors to pain, improving function, enhancing wellness, and supporting long-term vitality.

Dr. Farhat

Dr. Farhat specializes in non-surgical orthopedic medicine, focusing on restoring function, reducing pain, and helping patients achieve long-term musculoskeletal health. Raised on the east side of the Detroit suburbs, he graduated from Center Line High School before attending Michigan State University for his undergraduate studies and earning his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His postgraduate training included an internship through the Henry Ford Health System, followed by residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a fellowship in Pain Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr. Farhat is board-certified in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine. Dr. Farhat believes that effective care extends beyond simply treating symptoms. He has a growing interest in functional medicine principles and appreciates the importance of understanding the interconnected factors that influence health, including lifestyle, nutrition, movement, sleep, and metabolic wellness. By taking a comprehensive approach to patient care, he works to identify underlying contributors to pain and dysfunction while empowering patients to take an active role in their recovery and overall well-being.

We treat patients 18 years and older. At Lumora Health, we believe it is never too early to be proactive about your health and never too late to start feeling your best.

We are here to support you throughout every stage of adulthood. At this time, Lumora Health does not bill insurance directly for any of our services. However, we are able to write insurance-billed lab orders through our lab providers when applicable. In these cases, the lab is the billing party.

We are unable to provide billing codes for reimbursement for any other services.

Can I used my HSA or FSA funds?

Yes. All Lumora Health services can be paid for using an HSA or FSA card. Please keep your receipts for itemization and reimbursement purposes.

How often should I get blood work and consult with a provider?

How often should I get blood work and consult with a provider?

We typically recommend completing a follow-up lab panel 90 days after starting your personalized treatment program. This helps ensure that the provider’s recommendations and dosing are working appropriately and that you are responding well.

After that, patients are generally recommended to follow up every 3 to 6 months. Many of our patients enjoy seeing their progress and tracking their results over time.

How long does it take to fulfill a medication or supplement order?

How long does it take to fulfill a medication or supplement order?

Most medications arrive within 1 to 2 weeks, and sometimes sooner. However, because our medications are prepared by compounding facilities and made specifically for each patient, delivery may take up to 3 weeks.

Supplements typically arrive within 7 days.

How long will it take to receive my blood work results?

How long will it take to receive my blood work results?

Our blood work is very comprehensive and often more thorough than what is typically ordered by a primary care provider. Certain labs may require send-out testing, which can take additional time to process.

Results typically take 7 to 14 days to finalize.

How do I prepare for my blood draw?

How do I prepare for my blood draw?

We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise or workouts before your blood draw.

Lab work requires fasting for 8 to 12 hours before your appointment. This means no food, drinks, or supplements other than water. We encourage you to drink plenty of water beforehand, as this can help make the lab draw easier.

We also recommend completing labs first thing in the morning, ideally before 10:00 a.m.

If you are a woman with a regular menstrual cycle, we prefer that your blood work be completed between days 19 and 21 of your cycle. Day 1 is the first day of your period.

Please reach out to us with any lab-related questions. We are happy to help.

What states do you offer services in?

Currently, lab work and provider consultations are available only to patients located in Michigan.

However, we are able to ship supplements from our online shop to all 50 states. We take great pride in our supplement recommendations and maintain very high standards for the products we offer.

I had recent labs. Will you accept them?

I had recent labs. Will you accept them?

Typically, we do not review labs that were not ordered by our practice. We require comprehensive labs to ensure we are seeing the full picture and treating patients safely.

That said, if you are continuing a treatment already in progress and would like us to assess whether your recent labs are sufficient, we are happy to review them. Labs must have been drawn within the past 90 days.

Please reach out to us and let us know.

How are your hormones different from what my OB-GYN may prescribe?

How are your hormones different from what my OB-GYN may prescribe?

We utilize compounded medications and hormones, which means they are bioidentical and non-synthetic. We also prefer compounded options because they can be titrated and dosed specifically for each patient as needs and symptoms change over time.
